A. Sharma (*1979), PhD, is leading the REBIRTH group ‘miRNA in liver regeneration’ in De-partment of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endocrinology at MHH. His recent research on the amelioration of liver fibrosis via transcription factors-induced transprogramming of fibrogenic cells into functional hepatocytes, has received two prestigious “Publication of the Year Awards” from the “German Stem Cell Network” and the “German Association for the Study of the Liver”. Based on his ongoing work on transprogramming and non-coding RNA he aims to develop clinically applicable, safe, non-viral, non-integrating RNA-based therapeutics for the treatment of chronic and acute liver failure.
